We have the stomach flu.
Hurray!
Friday I went into (let's call it lower intestinal distress) and
headed to the doctor where they gave me pretty much no comfort other
than "nope you don't have the flu". I went home chagrined but heartened
that I would not spend my holidays cuddled round the toilet bowl,
sleeping on the freaking cold cool tile floor of my bathroom.
Oh. How, wrong I was.
Thankfully this year we had decided what with freak weather, power outtages up North and um two small children that driving 2 1/2 hours North and then driving too and fro from Relative to Relative, was simply not going to happen. ( I may have stamped my feet too...although in his defense The Man didn't put up any kind of fight, I just like to stamp my feet).
So we spent Christmas Eve entertaining family and friends who dropped by and then headed to Scott's parents (next door..its a long walk) for dinner and presents. This went great, although Moo was slightly overwhelmed by the situation and gave up opening gifts after unwrapping Buzz LIghtyear NIGHT RANGER!! (Nice work Aunt Joy). Dad was pretty sad, since he and grandpa unwrapped Moo's three G.I.Joe dolls and then accessorized them. They tried vainly to arrest Moo's attention by having the figures ride his Christmas train, and fall from the sky, but to no avail. Buzz Light Year it is.
After a fabulous dinner of Crown Pork Roast, Mashed Potatoes, Green Beans and Onions, Stuffing, Salad with goat's cheese and Cranberries (mmm Salad) and various other scrumpitiousness, we opened presents, and were entertaining ideas of dessert, (I can't remember what it was right now) when I started to feel....not so good. Then Scott's Mom, also started to feel, not so good. We began packing up the kids and headed home.
Since I was assured I did not have the stomach flu, I decided that I was just overtired from the excitement of Christmas and probably should go to bed early. My sister and I cuddled Baby Wah in my bed ( my sister and I took turns cuddling the baby, not each other, that would be weird) while watching Love Actually and The Man played his computer game "Death and Destruction, which a historic twist"-I think that is the name of it but I can't be sure. Maybe not.
Anywho, it quickly became clear that I would be spending some time
(hours) in the bathroom, so thank goodness Aunt Lauren was there to
hold the baby. Around 2am I left the bathroom and was able to sleep for
the rest of the night.
In
the morning we did Santa gifts for Moo, (click on the picture to read
the flickr notes) This year Santa got smart and unwrapped all his gift
before wrapping them so we didn't have to get out the power equipment
to free the toys.
Free the Toys!!
Then we called over to Scott's parents and geared up to head there for Christmas breakfast and stockings, only to discover that Grandma had spent a similar night in the bathroom. Poor Grandma. We headed over anyway and the boyz visited grandma in her bed, then we opened stockings and headed home.
Baby Wah and I snuggled while I got some quilting done and I tried to cure myself the Harry Potter way. (Chocolate, lots of chocolate)
I revisted my intimate relationship with the Porcelain throne around dinner time on Christmas Day but have been stable ever since.
We have hardly any pictures of Christmas for one) my sister was there and she takes better pictures and two)Hello did you read the part about being sick?
Sorry, Mom the baby is no longer in his cute Christmas outfit, nor his cute backup Christmas outfit. He had diarrhea too.

Here is the Wah playing with my stocking goodies, what 9mth old doesn't want his own lint roller?
This morning dawned rainy but full of promise, till Scott tossed his
cookies while getting the paper. The boyz have been dozing in front of
Baby signing time and Beauty and the Beast.
The circle is complete.
Strangley, puking and 'intestinal distress' aside, we have had a very nice relaxing Christmas.
Wanna come over?
Ps. If you see that darn House Elf I have some toilets that need....um deep cleaning.

Most of my holiday was spent like this, trying to get something done but mostly snuggling sick boys. I've actually gotten a lot of quilting done, which is good because I have one project due for a Christmas exchange Tuesday night. I'd post a picture, but you know (you know) that I'm not done yet.
Then tonight I got a wild hair and decided to sit down and get this whole blog thing fixed. I like Vox and I love the account but I just didn't feel at home rambling over there.
And look! After much hair pulling and carrying on and multiple emails to Marilyn, ranging from "hold me" to "I rock!" and back to "oh, no!" It looks like there is a function blog.
Sort of.
The funny thing is I finally was able to import all my old blogger blog files here, but haven't gotten my wordpress files yet.
Stick with me kids....
The turkey trot did not go as well as planned. I think anytime that there is blood involved
in a run, that''s a bad sign. The swelling in my ankle is going
down, but my writer's block is increasing as I find I miss my blog
tablet and just don't feel the love here on Vox......I should but I
don't.
I spent all afternoon doctoring The Moos' OJ with robitussin, he refused to drink it. Dang kid. Finally the sugar/medicine ration was satisfactory and he gulped all down.
I'm having a hard time deciding if I want to move here personally. I love the vox setup but I love my old blog and my old blog friends.
"I'm just, I'm just, I'm just brittany from the blog"
Well the children are all medicated, snug in our bed because The Man got their room painted today. Thas right!!! Baby blue walls, next up, sealing the wood paneling and then final floor sanding and sealing. Those boyz will be in their room by Christmas.
Merry Christmas to me!
Running Log
3.5 miles
A word about my sports bras ladies and gents. (is there anyone out there? Hello lo lo llo ) Tonight as we prepared to leave the house in the icy rain to subject our children to our need to reduce our stress I spilled hot wax on my chest as I blew out a candle. And guess what?
I DIDN'T EVEN NOTICE. That is how stellar my sports bras are. Seriously.
I feel like I'm visiting. I'm not quite comfortable in this blog space and miss my pretty flowers. I've been here before, it just feels strange.
We were remembering the old kidless days this weekend as we both were carrying crying, snotty, little ones around the house.
The days of getting up and going out to breakfast without packing diapers, sippy cups, cheerios, baby spoons, extra outfits and wipes. They seem far away indeed, especially on days where the sound of "achoo!" has you running to catch the goobery snot before it is smeared on something, anything.
Those days of big accomplishments are gone too. Nowadays, you find me in the kitchen making dinner while Scott carries the baby around. Later I stand in the living room while he assembles my new stroller. Moo plays quietly by himself for awhile before demanding his own share of attention.
And my blog and all my sites sit unfinished and confused on our computers because they don't cry loudly when you leave them alone and as parents no one understand better that the squeaky wheel does get the oil.
So my blog is gone, (so is the b on my keyboard for that matter) and the old websites are back up....grump etiy grump grump.
My kids are sick. Whiny, snotty, feverish, can't sleep unless you hold me mama sick. I'm tired. My house is unclean, my nerves are shot from the crying and the crying....did I mention the crying?
I feel like nothing is getting done.
So you know pretty much your average day.
It's rainy. I can't even bear to go look to see if the roof is leaking. Again.
How do I go on?
My PHIL AND TED STROLLER IS ON MY PORCH!! OH YEAH.
Christmas come early. Pictures to follow.
Nothing quite makes you loose your mojo like your whole site dissapearing. Scott finally got personally interested in the mess I've made of my site (sorry marilyn I tried to make you proud, I'm very very sad.) And thanks Zoot and ol roomie for trying to help me...
Thankfully like I said my new roomie has finally gotten behind the wheel and is currently deleting my entire Running Stitch site. (Please hand me a paper bag..)
Interestingly enough this depression (and Scott's being on kid patrol tonight) allowed me to finish my Round Robin Border. Pretty.
In crafting news other than the minor set back with the Round Robin border I have been getting quite a bit done (drugging the children with cheerios, popcorn and movies totally works! Although you know that you have hit a parenting low point when your two and a half year old asks for a "dinglehopper"* instead of a fork. Parent of the year award. Thank you. Thank you.)But I was inspired by it all to make this shirt.
Adorable
I know, but there is that UFO list and so next I finished up these
beauties (why yes they were a birthday present for someone in July,
shush now).
And this prototype doll quilt for a bigger version

This is what the couch looked like the day everything started to go
kablewie on us, I was sorting through my stash seperating out fabrics
for gift projects (ever the optomist, so what if I have over 14 UFO's
let's start some more!!)

A fork misused to straighten your hair
- Scuttle: It's a dinglehopper! Humans use these little babies . . . to straighten their hair out. See - just a little twirl here an' a yank there and - voiolay! You got an aesthetically pleasing configuration of hair that humans go nuts over!
- Ariel: A dinglehopper!
